We use the TerraNova 2nd Edition (CAT 6) of the California Achievement Test, which is one of the batteries accepted by the State of Oregon for home school testing.

Subject
With the CAT 6, your child can take just the "basics" (for state requirements), or add optional subjects. Scores for optional subjects are provided on a separate page, for parent records only.

Basics:
Reading and Language Arts, Vocabulary, Language Mechanics, Mathematics, and Math Computation

Optional Subjects:
Spelling, Science, Social Studies (and, for grades 1-3, Word Analysis)


Length

Choose the short Survey or longer Complete Battery edition of the test. Both versions are accepted by the State of Oregon for home schooling.

Survey:
Most home schooling families use the Survey edition.
This version requires about 3½ hours for the basics, and contains around 150 test questions. An additional hour is needed for the optional sections.

Complete Battery:
This test is usually given over two days.
The basics take about 6 hours, including nearly 190 questions. An additional 90 minutes is needed for optional subjects.
